Clinical Documentation During Clinical Placements: Perspectives of Physiotherapy Students and Clinical Educators

Background : Clinical documentation is a critical form of communication in healthcare settings. As defined by the Physiotherapy Practice Thresholds, clinical that complies with relevant professional and legal obligations requirement for all physiotherapists Australia New Zealand. Aims The aims this study were to explore experiences perceived support training needs physiotherapy students whilst on placement, from perspective educators. Method A qualitative approach was used investigate student (n=18) educator (n=17) perspectives. Interviews eight focus groups professionally transcribed, reflexive thematic analysis applied data determine common themes. Results Four overarching themes generated; 1) Recognising value documentation, 2) Variance expectations, 3) Challenges measuring performance, 4) placement readiness requirements. Conclusion main findings identify unique challenges experience meet requirements placement. This highlights shared responsibility university education providers facilities understand importance assist improving their skills.
